This year was market by a long drought. There wasn’t a lot of rainfall in winter and spring. In the end of September, which is end of the maturation period, the rainfall was more abundant.
In order to overcome the period of drought and to stimulate the correct development of the grapes, we moistened the vineyards through irrigation by dripping at the most critical moments.
The harvest was inferior to previous years; this was translated in a smaller yield of production.
It was a year of early maturation, which means that it was early in year that the grapes were in favourable conditions for their optimal development. It was reached a good alcoholic maturity and an excellent maturity of the skin.

This year provided us with the perfect conditions for growing grapes. It rained in the winter to provide reserves, again in the spring and once again in summer at around the period of ripening. These light rains, together with the moderate late summer temperatures helped to bring about a slow and steady ripening, which was finally achieved between one and two weeks later than is normal in our region. We believe that it was this slow development which lead to a significant improvement in quality.
Once again, selection is the key to the quality in the wins. We went through our vineyards several time to select bunches in a perfect state of ripeness.
